Why I love a Good TV adventure: Supernatural and Jensen Ackles.

Why do I like a good television story? Most people focus on the storyline, but I don’t think very many people think about the actors who bring the story to life. Yes, they may like the actors because they are so convincing, but does anyone really think about the focus, energy, or enthusiasm they bring to their roles.

I am an enthusiastic fan of the TV show, Supernatural. As I started watching the show, and a perioding episode by episode, complete re watching of the series at least ten times over the last 4 years, I have gotten to know Dean pretty well, played by an incredible actor, Jensen Ackles.

Jensen Ross Ackles is an American actor, singer, producer, and director. He is best known for his portrayal of Dean Winchester in The CW horror fantasy series Supernatural and has appeared in television shows such as Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady, Alec/X5-494 in Dark Angel and Jason Teague in Smallville. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jensen_Ackles

Basically, Dean is the archetypal male jock, a man of action, whose intellect is under rated. We get lost in the stereotype and lose the genius of his character. He always seems to come up with the perfect solution as he demonstrates a thorough knowledge of his enemies, which means he has an incredible ability to remember the lore, incorporate his experiences and land on the solution that ends the conflict.

Look at all the sub roles Jensen Ackles must play as Dean is a very complicated role to play. We all know Deans, tough, manly exterior. However, does anyone really appreciate the depth of emotion Ackles must pull off when Dean has those moments of self-reflection, questioning of his character, The existential Crisis when he realizes he has no free will and God “Chuck” a manipulative, cruel, twisted God who gives Dean, and his bother Sam, Played by another great actor, Jared Padalecki, Super fighting skills, invulnerability, saves them from Hell, and resurrects them for the purpose of watching them fight with each other (Cain and Able) and defeat the monsters he sends their way.

Also, do not forget his Selflessness, a seeming strength with the paradox that he needs to protect Sam so selflessly, as in putting his life before his brother’s because, as he said – “There ain't no me if there ain't no you.” We can all identify with that. Then there is the developing relationship with Jack and his growing, conflicting emotions and overcoming his fear with his deep love of humanity, as revealed by Castiel before he sacrifices himself so Jack can survive “The empty”, who comes to take jack to fulfill the natural order because Jack exploded when he was made into a bomb to kill Chuck and Amara (God and “The Darkness) and failed.

In The end Jack survives, battle with Chuck, God, and does not kill him but leaves him powerless to figure out how to survive as a mortal on a planet where jack has restored everything to like it was before God went looney and started destroying all his creations, including earth.

We cannot deny the talent of the writers, their ability to create realistic dialogues and interesting plots, the Directors who guide the characters within his vision of the script, the makeup people and the set builders and designers, the wardrobe people, and all the little technical geniuses and service staff that combine so many talents and abilities in a synergistic conflagration of fantasy excellence.
